Is there a minimum sales volume to be a byRemote Partner?

Affiliate Partner Level

  • There is no minimum sales volume for the byRemote Affiliate Partner Level.

Reseller Partner Level

  • There is a required minimum sales volume to have a Protected Territory.
  • To qualify for the Protected Territory, the minimum volume is a billed license amount of $400.00 USD to be achieved by the sixth (6) month after the first Account Activation. For the seventh (7) month, and for every month there-after, a minimum of $100.00 USD shall be accrued. These amounts will be based on the monthly billing by byRemote to the partner. These minimum volume amounts will be reviewed on a quarterly basis.
*New* As a byRemote Partner, do we have a protected territory?

Yes we do. Just recently, we have introduced a Protected Territory for the byRemote Reseller Partner Level.

How does the Protected Territory work?

  • Once that you have completed the Free 30-Day Test Drive, and we have received your first Account Activation, you will receive a protected territory of a 200 mile radius from the nearest largest city.
  • You will then have six months to achieve a minimum volume. The minimum volume is that a billed license amount of $400.00 USD shall be achieved by the sixth (6) month after the first Account Activation. For the seventh (7) month, and for every month there-after, a minimum of $100.00 USD shall be accrued. These amounts will be based on the monthly billing by byRemote to the partner. These minimum volume amounts will be reviewed on a quarterly basis.

How do you handle inquiries?

  • For any inquiries that we receive, we first check the address and zip code. If there is a byRemote Reseller Partner located within 200 miles of the nearest largest city, we will refer this inquiry to the partner.
  • Partner inquiry. The inquiry will be referred to the reseller partner as a dealer inquiry. They may then contact the inquiry at their discretion. For byRemote, we will not accept another partner within the reseller’s protected territory for as long as they are a reseller partner in good standing. In good standing, means that the reseller partner has met the minimum sales volume.
  • Sales Inquiry. For sales inquiries, we will offer these to the byRemote Reseller Partner for the Protected Territory. The reseller partner will then have one business day to accept or decline the inquiry. If accepted, the inquiry will receive an email that the byRemote reseller partner will be the one to respond to their inquiry. The partner will be copied on the email. The inquiry is then added to our CRM database as belonging to the byRemote Partner. Any inquiries or support requests are then forwarded to the byRemote reseller partner.

*In Development* Partner Landing Style web page?

This is an idea that we are working on. For those byRemote partners who are enrolled in the Reseller partner level, and met the minimum volume level for a Protected Territory, we will add a landing style web page.

What is a Landing Style Web Page?

A landing page is a web page that is designed to collect leads. For the Partner Landing Style Web page, the focus is on off-site hosted video. The sole purpose of the landing style web page is to convince the viewer to make contact. In the case of a landing page for a byRemote reseller partner, the page will catch the viewers attention for off-site hosted video surveillance and have an easy means for them to inquire further.

Why is this an advantage for you?

Our web sites have been around for years. When a person enters a search for off-site hosted video, or any other similar phrase, a byRemote web site will show in the top twenty seach results. This is referred to as Search Engine Optimation (SEO). As a byRemote partner landing style web page is a web page that is an extension of the domain for the byRemote Video as a Service Web site, the partner landing style web page will take advantage of this SEO. An example; the URL listing would show as; byremotesites.com/yourwebpage.

Will you have an example of a landing page?

Yes, we will. It will be a page on the byRemote Video as a Service web site that requires a login.

What if we are an Affiliate Partner and wish to be a Reseller Partner?
That is fine with us. Assuming that you have met the minimum sales volume, with your approval, we will change your status in our system from the Affiliate to Reseller level.
How do we setup a network camera?

First, you will need to install the network cameras or video encoder (these are also referred to as a video server) on the local area network. The local area network is the location for where the cameras or video encoders are to be installed. The camera manufacturer will have provided the instructions for doing this.

A quick note. In the camera setup, you will be asked to setup an Administrator level user with its own username and password. We recommend that you use the same username and password for each of the cameras for a customer. This is
much easier for record keeping.

Camera or video encoder setup. Here are some things that will need to be done in the setup of the network camera or video encoder. These are items that we have noticed that tend to be over-looked. The location in the camera setup area will vary by camera manufacturer.

  1. Viewer User. A Viewer User with the Username of; bsc and a Password of; bsc123 needs to added to the camera setup area. This is usually listed as Users in the camera management area. This Viewer user is required to allow the Video Management System or Video Surveillance Center software to communicate with the camera. By doing this, it is more secure. As we then do not have to use the administrative user. Should this Viewer User be changed, we will then need to update the new viewer user in the Video Management System or Video Surveillance Center . Important. To have us do this, just submit a support request by clicking on the Support tab in the Menu or in the link in the Quick Links.
  2. NTP (Net Time Protocol) time server. A NTP server must be added. The NTP server ensures that the camera time is synchronized to a central reliable source. Then, the correct time will show on the video. For more information on NTP, visit this link; NTP Server.
  3. Date & Time Settings. The date and time settings will need to be set and or activated. These are;
    • Time Zone. From the time zone drop-down, select the correct time zone for where the cameras are located.
    • Time Mode. Select the option to synchronize with the NTP server. Please note, the NTP time server will need setup. As mentioned above.
    • Date and Time Format. In the Time Format area, we suggest that you use the 12h for the 12 hour format. Unless you have a specific reason for needing the 24h (24 hour ) format.
  4. Image Settings. The Image Settings that we need to be activated or enabled are;
    • Overlay Settings. Enable the Date and Time. Add the camera name into the text area and enable it. The date, time and camera name will then show on the video in the Video Management System or Video Surveillance Center  software.

Remote Internet Connection to the camera. Next, you will need to have a a remote internet connection established to the camera.

  1. This is usually accomplished with the use of a router. The router will have instructions for how to do this.
  2. For the Video Management System software, the RTSP port that is setup in the device will need to be setup in the router. the device may be a; camera, video encoder, DVR or NVR.
  3. For the Video Surveillance Center software, a static IP or DDNS will need to be setup in the router.
  4. Then, the devices are setup in the port forwarding area of the router. The router will have instructions for how to perform these tasks.
  5. This will allow the remote Internet connection to the device.
  6. A suggestion is to have a person located outside of the camera location to connect up with their Internet device. This will allow you to test the remote internet connection.

Free 30-Day Test Drive. Once that you have the camera installation and remote Internet access setup, you will need to sign up for the Free 30-Day Test Drive.

  1. To do this, just go to the Activation tab in the Menu or the link in the Quick Links that is located on the right side of the web page. This page has an Activation and Deactivation Form.
  2. Just fill out the form and submit it. Be sure to select the Free 30-Day Test Drive.
  3. We will then process your request for the Free 30-Day Test Drive.

What happens next? Once that we have received the Activation Form, we will test the remote Internet connection.

  1. If we can reach the camera remotely over the Internet, we will then create the customer account, add a user for you and and then add the cameras.
  2. As a courtesy, we will check the setup for the camera or video encoder. Just to make sure that items listed above have been done.
  3. Once, that we have completed the activation for your account, we will then notify you by email with the server location and login information.

That’s it. Now, the live streaming and recorded video from the network camera or video encoder is ready for viewing. In the Quick Links area located on the right side of the page are links to the; Video Management System or Video Surveillance Center software. The tabs are also located in the Menu at the top of the page. Just click on the software for where your account has been setup.

How do have our network cameras added to the byRemote Video Surveillance Center software?

We do this for you. This is a great time saver for you, or your support staff.

  1.  What we do need, is the required information to create an account in the Video Management System or Video Surveillance Center  software. To obtain this information, we have an on-line Activation Form. This form has the information that we need to create an account.
  2. This form is reached by the clicking on the Activation Menu tab or the link in the Quick Links that is located on the right side of the page.
  3. Once that we have received the form, we will check the remote Internet connection. If we do have a remote Internet connection to the camera, we will then create a customer account in the Video Management System or Video Surveillance Center software, add a user and add the cameras.
  4. If we cannot reach the camera with an Internet connection from our end, we will send you an email.
  5. Upon completion, an email will be sent to the email account that is listed in the Activation Form. This email will have the location of the account and the login information.

The activation form asks for our customer's information. Why is this?

For byRemote Reseller Level Partners, the Hosted Video as a Service customer account is assigned to your partner account. Then, if an inquiry or support request is received from a user for your customer account, it will be referred to you.

Do you have a free trial?

Yes, we do. We call this the Free 30-Day Test Drive.

The Free 30-Day Test Drive is a chance for you to try out the Video Management System or the Video Surveillance Center software for free for 30-Days.

How many cameras may we have for the Free 30-Day Test Drive?

  • You may have the video stream from one network IP camera, or a video encoder with the video stream from one analog camera, available for the viewing of the live streaming and recorded video.
  • With the Video Management System software, the video stream may be from a DVR or NVR that supports the H.264 video stream.

What byRemote Video as a Service product is used for the Free 30-Day Test Drive?

  4. Upon completion, an email will be sent to the email account that is listed in the Activation Form. This email will have the location of the account and the login information.

Is the Free 30-Day Test Drive available for our customers?

Yes, the Free 30-Day Test Drive is available for your customers. This is an industry first from byRemote. That we extend the offer of the Free 30-Day Test Drive for our partners. They can then use this as a sales marketing tool for their opportunites.

  •  The Test Drive is available for the first location for a customer for the video stream from one network IP camera or one video stream from a video encoder that is connected to an analog camera.

We have an existing video surveillance system. Can we have the video recorded off-site?

Yes, it can. In fact, this is becoming a common use for the byRemote Hosted Video as a Service.

Digital Video Recording (DVR) or Network Video Recording (NVR)
  • The location already has a DVR or NVR installed. If the DVR or NVR has a RTSP port that supports the H.264 video stream,  the Video Management System software can provide the off-site video storage for the surveillance video from the cameras.
  • The network IP cameras will have a primary and sub-stream. The primary video stream will be recorded to the DVR or NVR. The sub-stream will be recorded to the Video Management System software.

For more information, see the FAQ; RTSP. You mention that RTSP support is required. What is RTSP?

Fully functional back-up system
  • With the byRemote Hosted Video as a Service, using the Video Management System software, to provide a back-up of the locations video surveillance, a fully functional system will be in place. This will allow the viewer to log-on to their account to view the live streaming and recorded video.
  • For an example, just click on the Video Management System Live Video Demonstration listing in the Quick Links on the right side of the web page.

Will we be notified if a network camera or video encoder happens to go off-line?

Yes you will. This is the byRemote IsItUp off-Line camera notification service. The IsItUp Service is included with the Hosted Video as a Server monthly recurring fee. It provides the following;

Off-line camera email. The IsItUp Service checks the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the camera or video encoder every 30 minutes. Should the service not be able to reach the IP address, an Off-line Camera email notification will be sent to a designated email account. The email will contain; Company name, customer name, camera name, the failure time and the last successful test time.

Return to Service email. If, when the IsItUp Service receives a response upon the next time that it checks the IP address, a Return to Service email will be sent to the designated email address. The email will contain; Company name, customer name, camera name, the return to service time and the last successful test time.

Where is the video from our customers network cameras hosted?

The Surveillance video is hosted at a byRemote server that is located in a certified data center. A certified data center will have the necessary experience, on-site 24×7 support and the bandwidth to provide a 100% up-time.

What type of servers are used to host the network surveillance video?

The byRemote servers are dedicated servers.

  • This means that the server is dedicated solely to the hosting of the surveillance video from network based cameras.
  • In addition, all of our servers are setup with a RAID 10 configuration.
  • This configuration provides for the mirroring of the video data across multiple hard drives.
  • Should a hard drive fail, it can be replaced with no video data loss or server down-time.
  • This is a more expensive video storage solution but we feel that it is necessary. As hard drives do occassionally fail.

To start the process for becoming a byRemote Partner, just fill out the Become a byRemote Partner Form below. We will then activate your partner account in our database.

Once that you have completed the Free 30-Day Test Drive and purchased a Video as a Service license, we will then establish your protected territory. Any opportunity requests that we receive from within your protected territory will then be referred to you.
