Why do you have two different Hosted Video as a Service products ?

From our inquiries, we have recognized the need for the Standard resolution with the option of 10 and 5 Frames per Second (FPS) and also, the need for Premium resolution for locations that require this. This, also, is available with the option of 10 and 5 FPS.

Where would the different products be used for?

  • The Standard Resolution with the 10 or 5 FPS would be used for installations that do not require high definition resolution. These might be residential, hospitality, office, day care and etc. This product is also ideal for use as an off-site video back-up for a DVR or NVR. As a note, some medical cannabis locations are now using the D1 with 5 FPS to provide the off-site recording of the video stream from the NVR or DVR.
  • The Premium resolution with the 10 or 5 FPS would be used for locations where the high definition resolution is required.
How do we get our cameras setup in the Hosted Video as a Service?
First, we will need remote access to  the video stream of your camera, DVR or NVR.
  1. We will need outside access to the video stream from your network camera, video encoder, NVR or DVR. This done by having a connection to the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) port. By default, this is port 554. However, you may change this if you wish. For instance, with IP cameras you may have more than one camera that the static IP address or Dynamic DNS is pointing to. You would then assign a different number for the RTSP port for each of the cameras. This will then allow the static IP or Dynamic DNS address to communicate with each of the cameras. When assigning new RTSP port number, use higher numbers with 5 digits. An example is 10555 for the first camera. Then, 11555 for second, 1255 for the third, and so on for the rest of the cameras.
  2. Check the setup area of your device. There will be a TCP/IP area. The RTSP port will be listed here.
  3. Make sure that the RTSP port is enabled.
  4. In your router you will need to setup the access to the RTSP port for the camera(s), video encoder, DVR or NVR. Your router will have instructions for how to do this.
  5. Verify that there is a remote connection to the RTSP port for the camera(s), video encoder, DVR or NVR. You will have to be outside of the device location to do this.

Here is a link to our Learning Center for reference lessons on how to do this; Setting up the outside access.

Next, we will setup your account and the video stream in the Vision Platform software.
  1. Required information. We do need some information to create your account in the Video Surveillance Center software.
  2. Activation Form. To obtain this information, we have an on-line Activation Form. This form has the information that we need to create an account in the Video Management System software.
  3. Where is the Activation Form? This form is reached by the clicking on the Activation tab in the Menu or the Activation link in the Quick Links that is located on the right side of the page.
  4. What happens after we submit the Activation Form? Once that we have received the form, we will check the remote Internet connection. If we do have a remote Internet connection to the camera, we will then create a customer account in the Video Surveillance Center software, add an administrator level user and add the cameras. If we cannot reach the camera with an Internet connection from our end, we will send you an email.
  5. Upon completion. Once that we have completed the activation, an email will be sent to the email account that is listed in the Activation Form. This email will have the location of the account and the login information.
Do you have a free trial?
Yes, we do. We call this the Free 30-Day Test Drive.

The Free 30-Day Test Drive is a chance for you to try out the Video Management System software for free for 30-Days.

  • We will create a customer account for you in the Video Management System software and then add the video feed from a network camera, video encoder, DVR or NVR with a RTSP port with H.264 video support.

What byRemote Video as a Service product is used for the Free 30-Day Test Drive?

  • For the Test Drive, we use the byRemote Hosted Video as a Service. For more information, just click on the Hosted Video as a Service tab in the Menu or click on the Hosted Video as a Service link in the Quick Links that is located on the right side of the page.
  • The video stream will be recorded for 7-Days. This will give you a 168 hour look back period. During the 30-Day time period, you will then be able to view the live streaming video and also the recorded video for 7-days.
